Haledon, New Jersey
Haledon, a borough in Passaic County, is home to more than 8,000 residents
within 1.2 square mile area. William Paterson University is located close to
Haledon.
Haledon School District serves students grades K-8 and is part of a
sending/receiving program with the North Haledon School District. Haledon Public
School serves the over 1,000 students up to eighth grade while students from
this borough, North Haledon and Prospect Park attend Manchester Regional High
School. Unlike most of the surrounding school districts Haledon is apart of the
Inter-district Public School Choice program, meaning students from other towns
can attend Haledon schools without cost to their families; tuition for these
students is paid out by the state of New Jersey.
One site that must be visited in Haledon is the Pietro and Maria Botto
House. Its the home of the American Labor Museum; which has stories of how
Italian immigrants came and settled in that area. The Botto house is listed on
the National Register of Historic Places.
